Year 10 Careers education programme
The Year 10 Careers education programme will help you to:
- Understand more about yourself (self-development)
- Know where to look for useful information (careers exploration)
- Plan for the future (career management)
Within this programme, you will cover the following key areas:
- Explore career possibilities
- The world of work
- What employers want
- Types of employment
- Legal limits
- Rights at work
- Responsibilities at work
- Application skills
- Work Experience
- Managing your money
- Post 16 options
- Understanding different levels and types of qualifications
In addition, you will also receive the following support:
Assemblies – about Different Post 16 pathways (University and apprenticeships etc.)
Work experience – you will complete two weeks work experience (one or two placements) where you will gain a valuable insight into the world of work.
Work experience de-brief – you will reflect on your work experience and identify the skills and qualities you developed whilst you were there and how these will be useful to you in your future.
Beyond 16 workshop – You will receive a workshop with Fiona Wright of Wright Careers which would focus on the available options for you beyond year 11. This would cover the Raising of Participation Age also.
Form time activities – In form times you will be looking at the above key areas through the interactive activities on STEP 2. Your form tutor will be on hand to provide support with this.

The Year 11 Careers education programme will help you to:

- Identifying your own skills and interests
- How others perceive you
- Qualification levels and types
- Post 16 options
- Changes in the Job Market
- Personal learning and thinking skills
- Money matters
- Making applications and covering letters
- Making a CV
- Interview preparation
- Reviewing action plan
In addition, you will also receive the following support:
Assemblies – about Different Post 16 pathways (University and apprenticeships etc.)
One to one IAG interviews – All Year 11 pupils will receive at least one careers guidance interview with an impartial Careers Adviser. This is a great opportunity to discuss your career ideas and your post 16 plans and to ask questions.
Form time activities – In form times you will be looking at the above key areas through the interactive activities on STEP 3. Your form tutor will be on hand to provide support with this.
